Exceptional commemorative coins would once again be struck in the Grand Monnayage building under this proposal, which focused on opening the main courtyard and relocating and redesigning several specialised workshops for foundry, engraving, patina, and gilding. A new central tooling and engraving workshop would also be built on a pentagonal plot and sheltered by the old boundary wall along the Impasse de Conti. Spread across four floors able to bear loads of up to four tonnes per square metre, the building is entirely clad in perforated copper panels, echoing the metal sheets from which coin blanks are cut.
