The shop is designed and fitted out like an art gallery to showcase work produced in the Monnaie de Paris, where craftsmanship and creative excellence are inseparable. Keeping with the character of the place, the shop consists of a series of rooms between the Rue Guénégaud and the Cour Franklin. In these four spaces visitors discover the full range of creative work produced on site: collector's coins, medals and decorations, new collections of gold and silver jewellery and art bronzes. All are quite distinct. The rooms are alternately coffered or vaulted, tall or low, or lit by natural or artificial light. The blue, silver, and black of the Monnaie de Paris brand combine with white and gold panelling in the shop’s palette. Materials range from raw – the timber used in of the tables – to precious – the lacquered walls of the display – and are consistently of the highest quality to showcase both past and present excellence. The furniture draws inspiration from traditional working pieces associated with the craft, including medal cabinets and engraver's tables, though they are reinterpretations of the original designs.
